North Bay Firestorm October 13 2017, 0 Comments
Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. We are overwhelmed and humbled by the amount of support expressed by each of you during these tragic fires in the Northern California.
One World Fair Trade is, and has been located in the heart of Sonoma County, an area known for world class wines, food, farms and culture. Our staff and their families live locally from Petaluma to Cloverdale and all have been impacted in one way or another. We now face some of the most destructive fires in California's history - and we're not out of the woods yet. The fires continue to rage, and the full extent of the damage will take weeks to assess, and perhaps years to recover from.
Most of the devastation occurred when the Tubbs Fire roared into the city late Sunday and early Monday, driven by fierce winds and it is still burning with only 10% containment. Our area is no surrounded by massive wildfires that continue to race through Northern California leaving a wake of ash, destruction and a blanket of heavy smoke.
Although several of us have been evacuated and displaced, we are relieved to share that all of our staff and families are safe. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that has been impacted and we are grateful to the selfless first responders who have worked tirelessly to keep us safe.
Over the last four days, our shop has had very limited hours as we were taking precautions and prioritizing the safety of our team. We would like to report that as of today, we plan to open and operate our shop in Healdsburg under normal business hours as much as we safely can.
Small businesses and communities struggle under tragic situations like these. Please support the local businesses that you love and care about as “business as usual” is the best way to rebuild and keep our community stable. If you don’t live locally or can’t make the journey up to the North Bay, then shop on-line or by phone. Amazon probably does not need the support, your local small businesses do.
All Our Best,
One World Fair Trade
