Oceanside Capiz Earrings
Frame your face with summer colors in our Fair Trade Oceanside Capiz Earrings. Handmade by an artisan group in the Philippines that specializes in working with capiz shell. Capiz shell is the inside lining of a type of oyster and is abundant throughout Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines and Indonesia. These shells are so abundant in the Philippines that there is a province of Capiz, and before glass was widely available in the Phillipines capiz shells were used for windows, hence the nickname "windowpane oyster". All shells used for these earrings are byproducts of a food source.
These sweet fairly traded earrings are big enough to be seen but small enough you'll forget you have them on. Very lightweight and comfortable.
