Rural Women outside of Kampala, Uganda hand-weave our Ugandan Teal Spiral Basket. Banana fibers makes up the core over which natural or beautifully dyed raffia is wrapped. The contrast between the raffia that is left it’s lovely natural creamy color and the vibrant teal and blue is beautiful and serene.
Our Ugandan Teal Spiral Basket is made by Ugandan Crafts, a group whose goal is to improve and empower the most disadvantaged. Many of the artisans of Ugandan Crafts are differenty abled, widowed, or HIV/AIDS affected. This worthy goal is brought to fruition by providing training, health benefits, emergency loans, transportation and education.
